Little antique steamer trunk made in France in the 1920s probably. Wooden construction with curved dome top, covered in a patterned fabric and bound with hardwood slats held by brass brackets and studs. Steel corner plates. Brass lock on the front, though the catch is gone. Steel handles on the ends. Engraved metal plate on the top which has the name of the (no doubt very elegant) French lady who once owned it. The inside is lined with patterned paper and has two trays with fabric lattice bases. There's a small key holder (I think) which slides into a slot. Condition is pretty good structurally: it's solid enough; the hinges have been replaced. Cosmetically there are plenty of signs of age: scuffs, marks and dings etc, and the fabric has a few worn areas, as well as being quite faded. The inside is similarly worn but there's nothing horrid; it's a fab little thing.. Dimensions: 56cm x 31cm x 34cm high
